And then that happened…

Alas, all good things must come to an end.
Quietly enjoying a flight of amber samplers over a mountain of nachos, some people as yet unknown to us decided that they needed the entirety of belongings more than we did and relieved us of our bikes, panniers, camping equipment, cooking equipment, clothes, food, camera, Kindles, wallet and passports.
Mutha fuckas.
Anna was actually popping a squat when I saw the empty space that was formerly home to our homes. But that didn’t stop me from barging into the ladies and telling her once and explaining to her twice our shit was gone.
After a good 15 seconds of despair with a sound track of “I don’t understand” & “what do you mean it’s gone” we split up. Not romantically, strategically.
Anna was to prowl the streets, kicking in doors, smacking heads and taking names. I was to sit in the brewery and wait for the cops. But after an hour of waiting, questions, hand gestures, and a desperate need to pee, I was beginning to worry Anna had actually found the bikes and was doing damage of her own to the assailants. So officer Hernandez and I took a ride in the pouring rain to go find my “tall hot blonde wet & probably angry girlfriend”.
It was quite fun slow cruising the dark streets and back alleys in a patrol car. Sitting inches away from a double magazine’d M16 semi automatic machine gun, spot light and radio, it wasn’t quite like the movies but if I closed my eyes and pretended real hard, it kinda was :)
We eventually found her, threw her in the back and made way to the nearest cheap hotel to plan the future via calling parents and watching infomercials.
